Family Tree DNA, who also administer the Ysearch database, have at last brought ySearch into line with NIST/ISFG standards with respect to STR markers DYS452 and DYS463.
In the past, people who tested at FTDNA, Ancestry and Genebase were required to adjust these markers before entering in ySearch. ySearch have automatically increased marker DYS452 by 19 points for those records that showed values of 9 to 13 or so. For those who have DYS463 results from FTDNA, your values for this marker have been corrected. If you have had DYS463 tested elsewhere, your DYS463 marker in ySearch has been deleted. You will need to re-enter this marker, so unless your DYS463 was ested at DNA Heritage or Relative Genetics, enter the value from your laboratory without adjustment. If you tested DYS463 at DNA Heritage or Relative Genetics, you will need to add two (2) to the value that your lab reported for this marker.
Please email me if you need any assistance in resetting your markers in ySearch and I will be happy to help.
From time-to-time I communicate any News I glean about the Irish Type III haplogroup of genetics in general to those who I have identified as being members of the haplogroup. I do this in the form of an email.
Past issues of the Irish Eyes Newsletters can be accessed from this webpage by making a selection below.
I always welcome articles of interest to members, success stories, tips and tricks - in fact anything that you think will add to our experience of genealogy and DNA in general.
These Irish Eyes emails are sent to you as you are a member of the R1b1b2a1a2f4 DNA haplogroup called "Irish Type III". If you do not wish to receive any further bulletins, please email me and I will remove you from the distribution list.
